Iraqi Pastries
Sorry about the big gaps between entries. I’m in the process of moving and it’s difficult to sit down and write when there are a million other things on my mind. What’s funny is that while I am busy doing the other million things I have my blog entries on my mind so it’s a vicious circle!
Now, on to Iraq. I think all of the world has heard about this country in the last few years and I was always curious to learn a little more about their culture. So here is just a small peek about what they’re all about. Read more
An international staple…Birthday Cake!
A very good friend of mine asked me to make the birthday cake for her eight year old son. I was a bit nervous at first because I haven’t really decorated a cake all by myself before. I have always had some help in that department. Baking? BRING IT ON!!! Decorating? um… I am very critical of my own work even though people have told me that my creations are excellent (I make hand made cards too) so when I she told me that her son would love a Transformers themed cake I thought I had my work cut out for me… Read more
Romantic Dinner?… Hungary!
I had absolutely no romantic thoughts when I started this dish, but as it came together I realized that it would be an excellent dinner for a romantic evening, light some candles, a little wine, some Michael Bublé playing in the background… *sigh*
Hungary, officially the Republic of Hungary is located in Central Europe. Bordered by Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. It’s capital is Budapest. The official language is Hungarian and one of the four official languages of the European Union that is not of Indo-European origin. Read more
Birthday Thoughts… and Music
I turned one year older yesterday… do I feel wiser? Yes and No. It has been a very productive year in self development but there are other things that I feel I’m still stuck in. I guess I just have to be more patient. I know that change is on its way, I just need to let it come in its own time. My desire to travel has only gotten stroger while cooking international dishes so I’ll just concentrate on taking it one day at a time and planning my trip around the world. ![]()
I had a small celebration yesterday. My mom is visiting from El Salvador so that was the best present I could ever ask for, even though the weather was rainy all day I still felt happy just because she was here with me. I took the day off work and just hung out, we went to the only tea house here in Winnipeg for high tea. Then went apartment hunting (still looking… *sigh*) and came home to rest a bit and wait for my birthday dinner, went to “Right There!” Korean restaurant… here I’d like to mention how much I loved that restaurant and that Korean is my new favourite food! After that… and yes, it was a little crazy of me… I went to a 1.5 hr. salsa practice for the new dance group that I’ve joined and then ran home to a birthday get together with a whole bunch of friends and others crammed into my little apartment full of boxes (’cause I’m in the process of moving), it was a little overwhelming to have all of these people here but I was feeling good. Of course I had a little birthday mix all ready for such an occasion, I want to share my international birthday music mix, well… at least some of it, it was too long to share the whole thing. Healthy Lifestyle
I debated for a while whether or not to start blogging about fitness and health. Then I realized that good food and fitness, at least for me, have to go hand in hand. I am not blessed with a lightning fast metabolism and basically whatever I put in my mouth will end up on my thighs unless I do something about it. So here is the first entry on my healthy lifestyle… Read more
